On cute #cottages, heavenly #halls & wonderful #walls - it is the essence of the local vernacular. The building material of choice. The charm & the character of the region.

Flint is a type of hard, sedimentary cryptocrystalline - a form of the mineral quartz, categorized under the variety of chert.

Flint is usually found in nodules and masses within chalk or limestone.

It has a glassy or waxy appearance and typically exhibits a wide range of colours.

Flint has also been historically significant - due to its use in tool-making.

It fractures conchoidally - so it breaks with a smooth, curved surface that is ideal for producing sharp edges; making it an essential material for making arrowheads, knives, and other tools during the Stone Age.

And of course flint was used to produce sparks for starting fires when struck against metal or other hard materials.
